the grown up's page
Hello Parents, thank you for visiting our website. We are Aldwyn Primary School "Digital Leaders" and we are responsible for educating and helping children in our school keep safe when they are on the internet.
We know that children will take risks when on social media that they would not normally take in real life, so our goal is to give them with as much information and help as possible.
We are also here to help parents and carers. On this page you will find all the information you will need to stay informed and help your children surf a little safer.

first steps
The internet can be a very confusing place if you are a parent. It seems that every day there is a new threat of danger reported in the press that your child might face when online.
It's worth remembering that the online world is something that children and adults too enter everyday. The internet can be a very powerful too in your child's education and for most part very useful.
For example, children at Aldwyn Primary School use Google Cloud which has changed the way they work and given them a some powerful, 21st century, digital skills. All this would be impossible without the use of the internet.
One way parents can help their children is to understand the internet a little better and we advice you take a look at the UK Safer Internet Centre, Parents & Carets page where you will find lots of help and information link HERE.
Don't forget, you can also view the pages of this website where you will also find lots of useful tips, help and information.

Parental controls
All four big internet providers offer what is known as "Parental Controls". Parental controls can be used to block upsetting or harmful content, control in-app purchases or manage how long your child spends online. And the good news is parental controls are really easy to set up.
Parental controls are software and tools which you can install on phones or tablets, games consoles or laptops – and even your home broadband.
You can also use them to help you block or filter the content your child sees when searching online. And family-friendly public WiFi can help when you’re out and about.
We have listed some pages to help you get started, but if you are struggling you can call 0808 800 5002, you can chat to one of the advisers at O2 / NSPCC.
Parental Controls can be a really powerful weapon in your arsenal and can help you monitor and control your children's internet use.
